Why do we sell Re-manufactures Honda / Acura J35A4, J35A5, J35A6, J35A7, J35Z1, J35A9 & J35Z4 engines for Acura MDX, Honda Pilot & Honda Odyssey ?
Lets start with a basic explantion about which engine fits which vehicle.
J35A4 fits 2002, 2003 & 2004 Honda Odyssey
2003 & 2004 Honda Pilot
Power: 240hp @5400 rpm, Torque: 242 lb.ft @4500 rpm.
J35A5 fits 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2006 Acura MDX.
Power: 265hp @ 5800rpm, Torque: 250 lb.ft @3500 rpm.
J35A6 fits 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 Honda Odyssey EX & LX grade.
Power: 255hp @ 5600 rpm, Torque: 250 lb.ft @ 4500 rpm.
J35A7 fits 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L grade.
has Variable cylinder management piston oil jets.
J35A9 fits 2006, 2007 & 2008 Honda Pilot 4WD version.
Power: 247hp @ 5759 rpm, Torque: 245 lb.ft
J35Z1 fits 2006, 2007 & 2008 Honda Pilot 2WD version.
Power: 244hp @ 5750 rpm, Torque:240 lb.ft @ 4500 rpm.
J35Z4 fits 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015 Honda Pilot.
Power: 250hp @ 5700 rpm, Torque: 253 lb.ft @ 4800 rpm.
If see the specs of all J35A versions above the power and torque is different. Some have Vtec solenoid by the oil filter near oil pressure test and some will have towards the back of the cylinder head. If the vtec solenoid is on the cylinder head then they can't be swapped, which means left side head will have to go on left side.
We offer Rebuilt J35A4, J35A5, J35A6, J35A7, J35Z1, J35A9 & J35Z4 engines because Japanese J35A engines imported from Japan are different.
We ship these engines as a long block ( cylinder block and cylinder heads) Our rebuilt engines don't have timing components, oil pump, water pump, accessories like alternator, power-steering pump, AC compressor, intake & exhaust manifold.
Our selling price for these rebuilt engines is close to the price of a used engine for this reason we don't include tune up components like timing kit, oil pump, water pump, front / rear main seals etc but we get help our customer buy these components for a competitive price from our auto-parts vendor at rates which are about 30% lower than the market price. These tune up components shouldn't cost more than $200-300. Accessories like oil pump, oil pan, intake & exhaust manifolds etc can be transferred from your old engine.
